The Woman I Was Before A gripping emotional page turner with a twist edition by Kerry Fisher Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
- I love this book. It makes one take a better look at all the wonderful Facebook posts by friends....are they really that true and wonderful.?Great story about neighborhood families and their Facebook lives versus their real lives. Highly recommend. My only negative is that I preordered the kindle book for 3.99. I see it is only .99 cents today. ???
- Fascinating story of the 'true' lives of three women behind their social media 'facade'. All is not perfect by any means for any of them. I was driven throughout the entire novel mainly to discover what happened in Kate's former life. The drama of Sally and Gisela's lives are interwoven beautifully. I loved this author's writing. I loved the story. Fisher has a good sense of humor when making some of her points, i.e.
"Every time I went away for work, I was frightened the elastic band pinging me back to Chris would stretch a bit further until one day our relationship would end up like an old bikini, too baggy around the bottom to snap back into shape."
I definitely shall be checking out Fisher's other novels. - I found the unveiling of the lives and secrets of these three women to be a fascinating read. Certainly many women hold things inside for a variety of reasons. Sadly, the story also points a finger at social media as a force that creates unrealistic expectations to show a "perfect" life, often resulting in humans not really knowing others as real individuals. My biggest "complaint" is that the time when these three females became adults was not one where a female had to allow their partners to determine their lives. Still, the novel was a satisfying read.
- I finished this book in one weekend, I couldn’t put it down....the writing is great and the story is so part of today’s Facebook society. I was sad it was over, I wanted to see more of life on that street. I love all of Kerry Fisher’s booksâ¤ï¸ She has a great writing style.
- What a great story! This book kept me guessing all along the way about one of the characters’ past and it was heartbreaking when it was revealed. The characters were all relatable and the thread of living a life on social media played in the background.
- Another wonderful and engaging book by Kerry Fisher. If you love Liane Moriarty's complex suburban tales, you'll love Kerry Fisher's latest work even more. "The Woman I Was Before" explores the dark secrets that could ruin three very different women living on the same street A single mother who hides her true identity; a happy mother whose picture perfect life is about to unravel, and a successful career woman whose longing for a baby pushes her seemingly carefree marriage to the brink. Kate, Gisela and Sally have little in common at first, but ultimately bond in the most unexpected ways, cheering each other on through all the turmoil and angst. Throughout the story, Fisher offers hilarious and wry commentary on our obsessions with social media and the endless need to create an illusion of an enviable, idyllic life.
- A look behind the social media posts of three women who hide their realities from the rest of the world. I found the characters a bit much at first, but as the author peeled the layers away and began to reveal their true selves, I found them much more likeable in their imperfections and faults. As they evolve into real friends with real honesty shared, the story becomes richer, as their lives do. Nice lesson for us all. Nice build up of tension as the truths get harder and harder to hide.
- I very much enjoyed reading this book. It was just overall a good, easy book to read. The characters were interesting and relatable, the plot was realistic and well developed. I think it is one of my favorite books that i have read in a while.
